Have you started your holiday knits? I have. I bought a fantastic book at Michaels (bite my tongue) it is called "Sock Yarn One -Skein Wonders" I think it is the best One Skein Wonder yet. Projects golore.

I am also knitting a Sophie Bag. Remember Mag Knits? They had a pattern for beautiful Sophie (thanks Julia) I found it after searching the web. The pattern calls for Cascade 220, but I am using Brownsheep's Lamb's Pride worsted to make Sophie. This yarn is great, wool and Mohair.

I am also knitting my fav Feather and Fan. I love this pattern as it looks beautiful all the time. My yarn of choice is Patons Lace colour ways Midas. A mixture of beiges and browns.

Charity Knits Dinner

Last night our group of Charity Knitters met at Citro Italian Restaurant in Richmond Hill, Ontario for a night of fun and food. The Citro is located at the corner of Lorne and Yonge St., on the east side. The food is out of this world, and the chef Johnny who was trained in Sicily, know how to make your taste buds happy.
We were 15 adults, plus three week old baby Maryam Barnes.

Charity Knits Update

Happy New Year to you and your family. Hoping this year will be wonderful and prosperous for you and your loved ones.

On Monday January 3, the Knitters Attic group are delivering our charity knits to Chats for Seniors and Sandgate Women Shelter. Our 2010 charity knit drive was very successful. Lots of scarfs,hats, mitts and lapghans made by our charity knitters, and store customers.

2011 Charity Knits will begin on Wednesday 12 January 2011, at 7:00 to 9PM; repeats every other Wednesday.

This year we are are hoping to knit Mittens.

Have you heard about Katia Ondas or Estelle Frill Seeker? Well these yarns are blowing up the market. No one seem to be able to keep them in stock. I have been trying to get stock for more than three weeks now, but as the yarn comes in it goes out. I think the importers are selling to their big buck stores first. Oh well I guess we'll get some soon.

A Long Hot Summer

We are having a long hot summer, but the knitting die-hards are still knitting along. If you are thinking about what you can knit or crochet, there are lots of beautiful projects to work on. It does not have to be one of those big projects like an afghan. Think about this beautiful capelet from Red Heart made with Debbie Stroller Alpaca Love. It is part of her recent yarn collection which has taken the market by storm. I decided to make this one. It is easy enough, but I am concerned about the guage. When I tried the first size, It was too small to go over my head. Even though I am known to have an extra large head, it was tight. So I decided to try the largest size. I am now down to the edging, and it is working well. Stay tuned for the final look and verdict.

Well it is that time again. Knitters Attic will be celebrating two years in the business. Not bad for a girl with a Social Work background. But, I had a lot of help. Many creative and hard working people who lent their time and efforts to make Knitters Attic a happening place. My grandson does his best too. He tells anyone who will listen that his gramma has a knitting store on Yonge Street.

I have decided to begin logging my projects. I first have to find them all. I have completed a neck warmer I started five months ago. (Picture to Come) Simple neck warmer, but I got interested in another project and the neck warmer went into the dreaded plastic bag...shame!

Monday night, the long weekend is over. What have I accomplised? One hat, one scarf, and helped two of my friends with their knitting projects. My daughter is making a fantastic scarf from the Drops Free Patterns using Eskimo Yarn. The second project was with my friend Helen. She is making a beautiful cape from a wonderful book "Wrap Style". If you get a chance to pick up this book, I'm sure you'll enjoy the wonderful patterns.

At Knitters Attic we are knitting and crochet focused.
We Teach knitting and crochet with the City of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. We sell yarn, and encourage our customers to develop their knitting skills. When it's time to move away from scarves, it is just time.
